Bhavadhaarini Anantaraman

Bhavadhaarini hails from the family of veteran composer Mayuram Vishwanatha Shastry. Born and brought up in a music environ there was a natural environment to learn Carnatic music from the age of 5. Her 20 year long association with her guru, the doyen of Carnatic Music Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt D.K.Pattammal brought out the sensitive musician in her. Bhavadhaarini is today one of the most senior and successful disciple of Smt D.K.P.

She has won numerous prizes and awards from several prestigious institutions from her school days. Her first concert was under the banner of 'Mookambika Fine Arts' at Chennai in 1987. Since then she has been performing at all important sabhas in Chennai during Music Season. She has also toured all over India to give performances. She is a recipient of the CCRT fellowship (Center for Cultural Resource and Talent) from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for a period of 9 years from 1990 and also the recipient of Sterling Holidays Scholarship for Vocal Music for a period of 3 years from 1997, the Spic Scholarship for 3 years from 2000. She is also the proud recipient of title 'SAI BAJAN RATHNA' from SAI SEVA CHAKRA, 2001

She began the recording career with 4 Solo albums for Kalavardhani cassettes in 1997, followed by 2 albums for ECHO (Bharath Records) and now she is now 'the most wanted voice' and the choice of many music directors and stalwarts like Guru Kaaraikkudi R Mani, B.V.BalaSai, B. Raghavendra Rao, Sivaramakrishna, RajkumarBharathy L.Krishnan, Umashankar, Selvaganesh, Rajhesh Vaidhya, Prapancham Ravindran, Lawrence, Shriram, Sharreth among others for many Carnatic and Light Classical Bhajan Fusion and Devotional albums.

She has Directed music and sung many albums for fund raising for temples maintanence and consecration ceremonies. With her 25 Solo albums selling well, her recent albums were Pearls of Purandara dasa and Pearls of Mutthuswami Dikshithar for Samarpana Audio Company. Her sonorous voice and a style that does not assault tradition add glamour to the concert and have been applauded by all.

Bhavadhaarini has also lent her voice for more than 500 albums till date for various genres and is one of most sought after voice for recordings in Chennai. She has also been singing regularly for Dance production Recordings for many dancers as well.

She broadcasts regularly over the All India Radio Chennai for Devotional, Carnatic and Light Categories. Also she has lent her voice and played Keyboard and Veena for many Tele-serial backgrounds, jingles and voice-over.

She combines in herself the rare talent and training of rendering classical music maintaining the traditional authenticity and heads her Music school branch at Anna Nagar called Karpagam sangeetha Vidyalayam.

She has completed her M.Sc in Applied Microbiology from Vaishnav College, Chennai and her second Masters Degree in Indian Music from Mother Teresa University. She is now heading towards her Research after her M.Phil in Music from the same University. Apart from her concert tours; she also travels to corners of the country to conduct Lecture Demonstrations and Workshops in Music, Musicology.
