Dr. Mohankumar Darekar

He is one of the popular voices today.A young singer in his thirties,gifted with a powerful voice and a beautiful blend of Agra and Jaipur styles in his singing.

Mohankumar Darekar received systematic training in singing from late Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki for over 17 years. Mohankumar's singing obviously displays the stamp of his Guruji. In addition, he has also been receiving training in Dhrupad and Dhamar from Ustad Saiuddin Dagar since 1992. Mohankumar's love for Ustad Amir Khan, Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan and Pt.Rajan Sajan Mishra's singing is also reflected in his renditions of different ragas.

A sonorous and pliant voice,good control in all the three octaves,complex and rhythemically beautiful patterning of Tanns,use of 'Sargam' in an asthetical manner...these are some highlights of his singing.

Obviously he has had honour to sing at a number of concert platforms and receive acclaim from the audience.Recently he had performed in world known Sawai Gandharva Concert which received a huge appriciation.He is an 'A'grade artiste of the All India Radio and broadcast regularly.

He also holds the M.A.degree in music (Uni of Pune) and 'Sangeet Alankar' degree awarded by Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal Mumbai. In addition he has received several titles and awards from a number of various organizations.

Recentaly He has published a biography of Pt.Jitendra Abhisheki "Maze Jeevan Gane"
