Apratim Majumdar [Ustad Alauddin Khan Seni Veenkar Gharana of Maihar and Rampur]

Apratim (1978) is tutored and groomed by Prof. Rabin Ghosh, disciple of Ustad Alauddin Khan in strict discipline and perfect style of Ustad Alauddin Khan Seni Veenkar Gharana of Maihar and Rampur for over nineteen years. Apratim's study in Music under Prof. Rabin Ghosh is still continuing uninterruptedly.

Apratim also received training for a period of three years from Shree Partho Sarothy, disciple of Ustad Dhyanesh Khan and Pt. Ravishankar.

Apratim performed number of prestigious concerts. Some of these are: at National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) -Mumbai, Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan- Mumbai, Vasantrao Chandorkar Smriti Pratisthan -Jalgaon, Kal Ke Kalakar Sangeet Sammelan- Mumbai, Indian Classical Music Young Talents' Conference -Kolkata etc.

Awards & Titles

Awarded by "West Bengal State Music Akademi" and "The Dover Lane Music Conference". "Sur Mani" title conferred by Sur Singar Samsad Mumbai. His "Dhrupadee Veenkar" style of Ustad Alauddin Khan's Seni Veenkar Gharana, analytically imaginative prosodic progression with metrical waves of melodic phrases interwoven with highest order of technical brilliance and maturity reminds the great legends of the Gharana.
