Navadikar Musicals to celebrate 13th Aniversary

Nawadikar Musicals, Pune will be celebrating 13th Aniversary on 31 Mar '06. On this occasion, Tabla (solo) has been organized. Wonder kid Yashwant Vaishnav(Age 12), disciple of Mukund Bhate will be performing on this special occasion.

Dr. Vikas Kashalkar mesmerizes the audience at Bharat Gayan Samaj

Mar 20: Dr. Vikas Kashalkar on Sunday started his recital with Raag Puriya (early night melody). Audience were spellbound while listening to "Sughar Bana .. ", a traditional bandish composed in Tilwada. Then came Raag Bihagada, a late night melody associated with Jaipur school of music. "Pyari Ladli .." was rendered in 'sitarkhani teentaal'. Following Behagada came a 'Hori', a semi-classical seasonal song. The hori was based on Raag Patdeep. Audience kept asking for more and Kashalkarji favored them with a Jod Raag Basant-Bahar. The mehfil came to an end with a traditional bandish and tarana in Raag Bhairavi.

Arolkarbuwa. It's a treat to listen to Pt. Sharad Sathe, for his recital consists a desciplined improvization and old, rarely heard compositions.

Swar Vilas Hindustani Classical Vocal Competition, Vadodara, Gujrat

Swar Vilas, the oldest organization promoting Classical Music in Vadodara, Gujrat, will conduct the 5th "Udayan Indubhai Award" vocal classical music competition of invited vocalists only between the age of 16 & 30. The probable date of this competition is Sunday, 5th Mar '06. A selection committee appointed by the president of swar-vilas will hear all the audio cassettes/ CDs received and select not move than ten deserving candidates to whom invitation will be sent by the secretary. Only the invoted candidates are eligible to participate.

Alok Joshi wins Scholarship

Alok Joshi was awarded a scholarship in Hindustani Classical (Vocal) Music from Ministry of Culture, India. The scholarship of Rs.50,000/- is given over the period of two years and is given to young promising students from 400 different categories of Arts. Alok Joshi is taking lessons from Pt. Dinkar Panshikar, Mumbai.

Ramkrishana Karambelkar wins Mood Indigo (Percussion Instruments) competition

Prasad Karambelkar, Pune bagged first prize in Percussion Instruments Solo competition held at IIT, Pawai, Mumbai. The competition took place in LT Hall, IIT campus. Prasad received Rs.1000/- as prize money and a 'Haribhau Vishwnath' gift voucher of Rs.5000/-. Prasad is taking lessons under the able guidance of Shri.Ramdas Palsule and Pt.Suresh Samant.
